The Mt. Kalatungan BioCon Project supports Indigenous Peoples in the Mt. Kalatungan Range of Bukidnon in sustainably managing their ancestral domains while protecting the area’s rich biodiversity. Funded by USAID under the INSPIRE Project and implemented by the Gerry Roxas Foundation, with Xavier Science Foundation as the sub-implementing partner, the initiative combines cultural preservation with environmental protection and economic development.
The project focuses on strengthening IP governance, promoting biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation, integrating Indigenous knowledge into education, health, and food systems, and advancing sustainable livelihood opportunities. Through community-driven efforts, the project empowers Indigenous communities to build resilience and uphold stewardship of one of Mindanao’s most critical ecological landscapes.
