On November 23-25, Xavier Science Foundation Inc. hosted a learning exchange with its partners from the Asian NGO Coalition for Agrarian Reform and Rural Development (ANGOC) and Global Land Tool Network (GLTN).
The learning exchange is a part of the Securing Access to Land and Resources (SALaR) Project being implemented across Uganda, Laos and the Philippines. Representatives from various implementing groups such as Uganda Community Based Organization for Women and Children’s Welfare (UCOBAC), International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR), Village Focus International (VFI) and Makerere University participated in the 3-day activity. Best practices, lessons learned and challenges in land tenure initiatives were the central discussions. The group visited the ancestral domains and met with the local leaders, women and youth of two Indigenous Peoples communities- MILALITTRA, in Talakag, Bukidnon and NAMAMAYUK, in Pangantucan, Bukidnon. The highlight of the visit was the ceremonial awarding of Certificates of Customary Land Occupancy.
