Xavier Science Foundation, Inc. in partnership with the Committee of German Doctors conducted its 1st Barangay Health Workers (BHW) Convention on May 30-31, 2018 at the Municipal Gymnasium, Arakan in North Cotabato.
Participated in by over 65 trained BHW from Datu Mantangkil, Kulaman Valley, Libertad, and Datu Ladayon under the Primary Health Care Program and honored by the presence of Vice-Mayor Jenefier Pangilinan, Mr. Roel Ravanera, XSF Executive Director and Dr. Karen Mae Canario, Municipal Health Officer of Arakan as well as the Municipal Councilors and Barangay Nutrition Scholars.
Topics discussed in the convention include The First 1,000 Days Program, Adolescent Reproductive Health, Cervical Cancer and Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid Wash, as well as discussions on the 4Ps – Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program from the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
The PHC program is a 3-year intervention to promote basic health care amongst communities by training select barangay health workers serving in the rural barrios and sitios in the Municipalities of Arakan and Cabanglasan in Bukidnon.
